CONSTIPATION Relief & colonics

reset SPECIALIZES IN PROVIDING CONSTIPATION RELIEF AND INTESTINAL DETOXIFICATION THROUGH THE USE OF COLONICS.

Constipation is characterized by difficult or infrequent bowel movements.  It affects over 7 million Americans.

A person is considered constipated if they have been experiencing the following symptoms:

  • Straining during a bowel movement

  • Hard stool

  • Incomplete evacuations

  • Swollen abdomen

  • Abdominal pain

  • Two or fewer bowel movements in a week

CONSTIPATION IS PRIMARILY CAUSED BY NUTRITIONAL DEFICIENCIES AND THE INTAKE OF ARTIFICIAL SUBSTANCES.

Constipation is an uncomfortable situation that can be alleviated by many of the colonic services we offer at Reset. Aside from treatment, though, we preach prevention of constipation and colon issues in the first place with healthy lifestyle choices.

The common causes of constipation are:

  • Dehydration - not drinking enough water throughout the day

  • Limited fiber intake

  • Disruptions of regular diet or routine (e.g. traveling)

  • Limited activity or exercise

  • Over-consumption of dairy products like milk & cheese

  • Eating disorders

  • Overuse of laxatives — when used for long periods of time, many stimulant laxatives including Dulcolax, Ex-Lax, and Senna can lead to dependence and may damage nerves, muscles, and tissues in the large intestine

  • Hypothyroidism — when the thyroid gland is underactive, it slows the body’s metabolic processes, including the gut.

  • Stress and depression-like hypothyroidism, depression causes a general slowdown in the body’s normal processes, which can also affect intestinal functions

  • Neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease or multiple sclerosis

  • Antacid medicines that contain calcium or aluminum

  • Painkillers — many receptors for narcotic drugs are in the digestive tract, so painkillers tend to bring everything to a halt

  • Antidepressants  — constipation can be associated with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor antidepressants such as Prozac

  • Blood pressure and allergy medications — constipation can be a side effect of some common drugs used to treat high blood pressure, such as calcium channel blockers and diuretics.

    • Diuretics, for instance, lower blood pressure by increasing urine output, which flushes water from your system.

  • Inflammatory bowel disease – Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis can cause cramping, weight loss, bloody stools, and other health problems

  • Pregnancy and childbirth — constipation can be linked to sluggish abdominal muscles and the use of pain relievers and anesthetics during the delivery

  • Antispasmodics and anticonvulsants — these medications prevent sudden muscle contractions and prevent seizures, yet they can also affect the nerves in the colon wall
